What a Year— and What’s Ahead

By JAN BOTTIGLIERI

March 18, 2026

We’re wrapping up our year in a big way with this issue of Paper360°! We’ve got another end-of-year pullout map for you in our print issue: Tissue mill locations throughout North America. This is the third such map we’ve done, and the second this year. They’re the perfect pin-up for your mill’s control room, break room, safety classroom, or anywhere you want your crew to be reminded that we are part of an industry hard at work across the country and around the world. (If you take it home to hang up in your kitchen, that’s fine too.) Big thanks to the folks at ResourceWise for pulling things together with their FisherSolve industry database.

Also, we are pleased to bring you the annual Paper360° Top 75 Manufacturing Companies, another useful tool for understanding our dynamic industry. Recent global M&A activity has brought with it a few changes. Where does your company, or your best customer’s company, stand in the new industry order?

It’s true that 2025 has had its challenges—new regulations, trade uncertainties, changing markets, sharknadoes (Okay, maybe that last one is only in the movies.) Still, there is no other industry like it. I genuinely believe in the purpose and promise of our industry and the products we make, which people around the world use every day as they work, play, learn, and take care of their families.

Looking into the near future, I see exciting things ahead. We’re going to continue to focus on the issues most critical to our readers, and 2026 will bring you more great content covering safety issues, workforce development, and keeping your machines running at their best. We’ve got some very cool stuff planned for our podcast, so if you’re not already subscribing to Better Together, you’ll want to correct that before the year is up. (You’re welcome in advance for the handy QR Code on this page.) By now, every Paper360° reader should have gotten the hint about the value of TAPPI membership, so if you have not joined or renewed for 2026, you’ll also want to check that off your list.

I expect 2026 to bring great things, and I hope you do as well. Transitions are the perfect time to practice “an attitude of gratitude,” so I want to thank someone important: YOU. Thanks for showing up every day to help run, manage, maintain, or supply the Great American Forest Products Industry. Thank you for reading, sharing, and contributing to Paper360° magazine.

Now, 2026 … Maybe cool it with the sharknadoes? Otherwise, we are READY.
