Pregis Expands Wind Power Use at 22 U.S. Facilities
March 12, 2026
Pregis has expanded the use of wind power across 22 U.S. manufacturing facilities, marking another step in its plan to reach net-zero greenhouse-gas emissions by 2040.
In 2025, the company matched 100% of the electricity consumed at these facilities with wind power through renewable energy certificates. According to Pregis, the initiative reduced market-based Scope 2 emissions by an estimated 11,700 metric tons. Using the U.S. EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator, this reduction is comparable to the annual electricity use of more than 2,400 U.S. homes.
The company previously matched electricity consumption at six facilities in 2024, representing more than 4,000 metric tons of CO₂e annually.
The 22 facilities currently covered by the program represent about 20% of Pregis’s total Scope 2 emissions, leaving significant potential for further expansion.
“As we scale our operations, it’s critical that we scale our climate actions with the same discipline,” said Kris Getty, Chief Sustainability Officer at Pregis.
“Expanding our use of renewable electricity reflects steady, measurable progress toward our net-zero goal while maintaining transparency around how and when emissions reductions are calculated.”
Several facilities included in the wind-energy program produce curbside-recyclable paper-based mailing solutions, linking the initiative to Pregis’s broader efforts to reduce emissions across both operations and packaging products.
Part of a broader decarbonization strategy
The wind-energy initiative is part of Pregis’s broader effort to decarbonize its operations and packaging production. The company’s strategy includes transitioning global operations to renewable electricity, improving energy efficiency and electrification across manufacturing, and developing packaging solutions using lower-carbon materials and feedstocks.
Pregis is also a signatory of The Climate Pledge, which encourages companies to adopt science-based targets and accelerate climate action.
In 2025, the company participated in Climate Week NYC, where it hosted a session focused on helping brands integrate sustainability into packaging strategies.
