TAPPICon®️ 2026 in Columbus, Ohio featured 137 peer-reviewed presentations including, “Stickies in Recovered Paper Fiber Suspensions: A Tutorial Review,” by North Carolina State Professor Martin Hubbe, Ph.D. ‘Stickies’ is a term used by modern papermakers to denote petroleum-derived substances that exhibit a sticky or tacky nature (Baumgarten 1984; Mouyal 1996; Doshi 2002; Gribble et al. 2010). This review considers their origins, their main effects, their composition, and a variety of ways in which technologists have succeeded in mitigating their adverse effects on paper machine operations and in paper products, including process efficiency and product defects.
